Having military access with all factions means that Yuan Shao/Yuan Shu's vassals revolt if their master declares war on you (which is a good counter to the Yuan Shao/Yuan Shu problem. Also you can sell military access through your territory for money once you are strong. Decide which commanderies to keep and sell provinces to allies to fund building your core commandaries. It's better to have 5-6 good commandaries that are completely under your control (adjacent to one another) than to have more, you will in fact get more money and be able to field better armies. Tall is better than wide due to how corruption works which cuts down on your money for every commandary you own settlements in. It's great for keeping my northern side safe but at the same time i'm more and more worried that it will come back to bite me since he's expanding quite a bit and has a stronger army than me atm. Once i stabilized and gobble up the Han provinces around my starting area i decided to turn on Kong Rong and easily took his lands. Gave him a trade agreement to keep him chill towards me and focused on my early forced wars with Cao Cao(which you can peace out of after the faction that drags you into it confederates via event with you) and another war with a faction right below Cao Cao. I just boxed in Kong Rong so he didn't expand too much and didn't give him any military access no matter how much he offers you. ![]()
